Smithfield, N.C. A daylong workshop (9:30 am–5:30 pm) with artist Paris Alexander offers the opportunity to learn to carve alabaster, a soft, translucent stone. Students design, carve, and polish a small block of stone into their own sculptural work. Tools and supplies provided; bring a bag lunch.
