Enjoy an introduction to the Museum’s collection with our free guided tour of West Building, “Explore the Collection.” No reservations are necessary—meet at the West Building Information Desk. For individuals and groups smaller than 10.

Free. Sign up that day; first come, first served.

Meet at West Building Information Desk. Half-hour tours for kids age 5 to 10 and their adult companions. Join a Museum guide for a lively discussion and activities in the galleries.

Meet Your Museum Tours

Fridays | 6 pm and 7 pm
Saturdays | 11 am, noon, 2 pm, and 3 pm
Sundays | 2 pm and 3 pm

With a 164-acre campus, two buildings, an amphitheater, a park, and several gardens, the NCMA offers much to see and do. This free guided tour introduces visitors to the Museum buildings, central Plaza, and related works of art. No reservations are necessary—meet at the East Building Information Desk.

In conjunction with the exhibition El Anatsui: When I Last Wrote to You about Africa, step into the rich world of traditional and contemporary African artists in the permanent collection.

Adult Group Tours

What better way to experience the permanent collection and special exhibitions at the North Carolina Museum of Art than through a guided group tour? We welcome your organization, club, business, church group, or social group for a one-hour docent-led tour for 10 or more people. Learn more.

School Group Tours

The art and history of the world’s cultures await you and your students. Take a docent-guided tour of the permanent collection or exhibitions tailored to grade levels and many subject areas. Learn more.

Cell Phone Tour

Listen to casual remarks by curators, educators, and scholars about works in the galleries and Park using your own cell phone. An audio wand, which features the indoor portion of the tour, is also available at the Information Desk, West Building, for $3 (free for members).
