Contemporary artist Leonardo Drew creates dynamic, abstract sculptures and installations that expand into their surroundings. His work defies gravity, disrupting normal conventions of time and space and conveys a feeling of barely contained energy. “I think of it as making chaos legible,” Drew says. In this virtual lecture, Drew discusses work from his career and his intent for it to be a mirror for viewers, reflecting their individual experiences.

Leonardo Drew's Museum Park installation City in the Grass and solo gallery exhibition Making Chaos Legible at the NCMA are made possible by the generous support of the Hartfield Foundation and Libby and Lee Buck. Exhibition support is also provided by the Leonardo Drew Exhibition Leadership Committee: Pamela J. Joyner and Alfred J. Giuffrida, Talley Dunn Gallery, Galerie Lelong & Co., Anthony Meier Fine Arts, Lawrence J. Wheeler and Donald Doskey, Randy Shull and Hedy Fischer, Chandra and Jimmie Johnson,  and Dr. Carlos Garcia-Velez and Dr. W. Kent Davis.

The lecture is supported by the Robert Lee Humber Lectures Endowment.
