Gilded faces and stunning portraits, fancy wrappings and colorful trappings were synonymous with hope for the afterlife and the continuation of millennia-old traditions in ancient Egypt. Join NCMA Egyptologist Caroline Rocheleau, director of research and curator of ancient art, as she discusses how funerary beliefs and customs blended at a time when Egypt was ruled by the Macedonian Greeks and the Romans.

Ancient lives, eternal gold. This exhibition presents eight extraordinary, gilded mummies and more than 100 related objects, including papyri, jewelry, ceramics, and deity works that connect the daily lives of these Greco-Roman Egyptians to the religious world of the gods.
